Chicken teriyaki is an all time favourite Japanese dish with its sweet and tangy taste. Adding it as a topping to your usual crusty pizza will create a unique combination to share at parties or to enjoy on your pizza night.

Pizza may be one of the most popular dishes in the world but you can still add a bit of a Japanese twist to this Italian cuisine staple. Teriyaki sauce is also very popular so combining the two can only be a hit!

• 1 Leek
• 2 tbsp Soy Sauce
• 4 tbsp Mirin
• 1/4 tsp Sugar
• 4 tbsp Cooking Sake
• 200g Chicken Mince
• 4 tbsp Mayonnaise
• 1 Ready-Made Pizza Base
• 100g Shredded Cheese
• 1/4 Sheet Nori Seaweed
• 1 Green Onion Cutter (optional)

Suggested Drink: Japanese Beer

How To Prepare

  1. Begin by cutting the leek with our green onion cutter, which cuts all kinds of onions into strips in no time. Try to make the strips about 4cm long, as we will use them for the topping.

  2. In a pan, mix the soy sauce, mirin, sugar and cooking sake. Once done, let the mix simmer slowly on low heat for a few minutes before adding the chicken mince.

  3. Once your chicken mince has simmered long enough, strain and mix the remaining teriyaki sauce into the mayonnaise. Spread the mayonnaise evenly on your pizza base and add the chicken mince. This is a good point to start preheating your oven to 250 degrees.

  4. Finally add the shredded leek and the shredded cheese as toppings and put in the oven for about 10 minutes. Once your pizza is ready, add some shredded nori seaweed and enjoy with a sip of Japanese beer.
